Computer dead - me pissed off
Due to some less than prudent downloading the other day my computer has bitten the dust as far as windows system files go so I am incommunicado and left with very little to fill the days when I am at home - as far as timing goes you can't get much worse than this - I have days free with nowt to do but sit at home and I am left with little to do except twiddle my thumbs and read.

I am therefore making use of the extortionately priced internet cafe down the road so's I can leave you all a message in my absence and get a fraction of my fill of daily my net-shot.

Have fun and don't stop blogging. I will be back soon. See you's all later.

Beheading
http://drinkthis.typepad.com/

I was just blog browsing and found some videos on this site of recent hostage beheadings.

Being impossibly curious about this sort of thing I watched them. I warn you now not to watch them unless your psyche absolutely demands it. Aside from the fact that they are the most stomach turning things I have ever seen in my entire life THEY ARE USING A TINY FUCKING KITCHEN KNIFE!!!

WHY THE FUCK DON'T THEY USE SOMETHING WHICH IS GONNA DO THE JOB WITHIN THIRTY SECONDS OR SOMETHING.

ugh...

I am really serious about that warning by the way.

De Rigeur
A spotter should always be smart,
[as an ambassador for his art]
One starts with smart trousers and sweater,
[in case you need mix with your betters]
Then trainers, or sneakers, for speed,
[as a spotter, that's something you'll need]
For cold winter nights, in the Pennines and that,
a spotter should carry one thick woollen hat.
There is one item I know you're awaiting,
I can tell that your anticipating,
I tell you for sure, something no spotter should lack,
is a warm, pocket filled, hooded Anorak.

This is best read in a Northern accent as if impersonating Gus Gascoigne.

Gun's don't kill people, rappers do...
heh

I think it's funny...

Could be just me though. I apologise for my absence - I do not mean to dispossess anyone. I have been away on me tour and away, consequently have been distanced from computer facilities for any meaningful length of time. Nice to see you all again though. I am around for the next few days and will try and pop some cranial contents down here for your reading while I am away next week.

At present, however I have wonderful books to read and one to write as well...

Check this out - some very dark videos...
http://www.mindistortion.tk

This is what flash animation should be like - wonderful music, brilliant ideas and great darkness...the movies are about as far as I have got so far - I don't want it to end so I am rationing myself.

"Perish" is stupendously beautiful - and so like a rock video it isn't funny.

"Sickey Mouse" is very funny.

"Inquisitor" is just damn cool.

I found this on www.deviantart.com. A deviation by ~spx

This is why I don't like the use of smilies - they aren't made that way, they are forced into a life of slavery emotery. How would you feel if we did this to you??

Chihuahua!!!
Right - the first two venues have gone well, with only minor hiccups - and Mark threatening to flash the audience. I am now ensconced at home waiting for next week and wondering what the hell I am gonna do when it is all over.

In other news, I was impressed to learn that Dubya, as he likes me to call him, used to play rugby, and indeed there exists a picture smacking some dude in the face when at college. Now I understand what America sees in the guy - no really... I linked to the picture but all that came up was some stupid emotibollocks so I unlinked to it - find it yerselves if you are that interested. It is linked to on another blogsite from Twickenham - which wus how I found it in the first place.

In other news I have discovered Dead Can Dance - none of this rockenspiel unbenknownst to us this band is great, even though they sound shit. Dead Can Dance actually sound good as well!!

It may become evident that I have nothing in my mind that particularly wants to come out at the moment and this blog is almost as much an excuse for some finger exercise as anything else. It helps to have the words come out anyhow.

What is is with puke coloured cars. There are a variety of car colours that all fall under the general heading of vomit coloured. The punto started it off with that revolting vomit/shit/snot colour yellow number, and people have followed it up with dirty oranges, we're not talking burnt umber here, more like burnt upchuck. YUK! and WHY? There are only a few acceptable colours for a car, of which British Racing Green is by far the classiest.

Having mistyped the word oranges twice I remembered the word "ornery" - what a word. I have this kind of feeling that you can only truly be ornery if you are a) America, b) Southern and c) sun dried. [Not like the tomatoes, but like those people who have obviously been under the sun every day of their lives whose skin is like elephant hide, only a different colour.] It is sad because in addition to wanting to be described as malevolent and cantankerous I would also like to be thought of as ornery. I don't think I am really the ornery type. Should I chew tobacco and refer to my computer as "that 'puting box thang." I might get nearer the mark...

In other news I have completed the first draft of the first short I am writing for Night Warrior. I am fairly happy with what ended up coming out. I shall link you to the first issue. God knows when my story might end up being drawn and issued. I am unconvinced about the Night Warrior world though. What confuses me is the lack of information around the world and the city. One of the things which appeals to me most in this sort of thing is the world building around it. I know the social classes, castes, taboos and slang phrases of my cyberpunk world, but these buys, despite there being a team of core people who have come up with it have created a world similar to ours, and yet different in undefined ways. I can't write without wondering if I should be double checking my words with their facts, only there aren't any facts.

Aah well. I am more interested in their future plans for a cyberpunk style comic.... They called it Max Payne crossed with Blade Runner - which if any of you know both the references...I reckon sounds like Blade Runner - what does Max Payne bring to that equation other than being a computer game?

My sister’s gubernatorial inauguration
I have always wanted to be a gubernator, and now my damn sister gets to be one - damn her - damn her to hell.

What I really want to know is how one gubernates for such long lengths of time. From what I have heard these people are expected to be gubernators for years, and it is quite exhausting to have to gubernate solidly for that long, even if one is a properly trained gubernator.

Where does the word originate from? I am going for the lfact that these people have gubers instead of minds, but it may be named after Gubert Schlossfanny of the 1823 Schlossfannys. Who can say?

It is just such a wonderful word. I can imagine Mr Schwarznegger wandering through his mansion on a dark lonely night muttering to himself. "I am de gubernator." before machine gunning imaginary villains.

Stage Management
I am half an hour from seeting off on my first paid stage management gig. I am shitting bricks, nervous as fuck. I am not being paid a great deal, if you work it out in terms of how much per week, but if you work it out in terms of hours I am probably getting a good rate, I am just shit scared, cos I have never had someone paying me for it before. In the situation when I am not getting paid nobody can bitch, noone can say I am not worth the money. This is the first time that that can happen and I am petrified that while they may7 not be saying it they may be thinking it.

The Nrunette has been very helpful, giving advice and encouragement. She is right in that out of the stage managers that i know they are lucky to have me, but then there must be a whole load of stage managers that I don't know and maybe they are all better than me.

Ah well - wish me luck. What I hate about it is that there is nothing that the actor can do to fuck me over once the performance starts (up to a point) because he is the one on stage and if anything goes wrong he is the one left looking like a fucking lemon. If he fucks up his lines he looks like a tit, but worse, if I fuck up the lights it leaves him looking like a tit.

Here goes nothing anyway.

Politics = dullnessity
I am bloghopping - missing the brunette quite badly - and I can't call her atm. so here i am hopping blogs through the new feature wotsit at the top. I found a nice javascript to pop in my page letting me know referrers who have swung by which is nice.

Something which is alarming me is the preponderence of political blogs - mostly about Bush and Kerry. I have a question. Who the fuck cares? It is gonna be a long time coming and you can bet yourt bottom dollar that at the end of the day it won't make shit all difference to you and me. I have thus decided to post something more relevant to me, better argued and more interesting, and most importantly more original.

"Terrifying" Science fiction
verbatim: "...Isaac Asimov's final, classic, terrifying picture of robotic developments in the future.."

Now I am about 2/3 of the way through "The Rest of the Robots" and I have not found anything remotely terrifying. One might argue that I am a cynic and therfore do not believe the stories, I assure you that I am interested in the precisely because I think we can learn from them when we finally get around to designing robots. One might accuse me of being jaded and just sutting my mind down to the terrifying possibilities, but I am not, I simply don't find it terrifying in the least. I look forward to the future, always the best way I find, and believe that our scientific developments should be tempered by the wisdom of those who have explored the possibilities in fiction before the eventualities arise.

The only science fiction I find terrifying is that dealing with our human reactions to technology and aliens. Only yesterday was the news that we have found a radio signal from space - probably the first episode of Eastenders havign reflected off Mars or something - but I have read books where humans first reaction to extra terrestrial life is hostile - and I think they are probably right. I think we are ignorant enough and stupid enough to mistake good intentions for bad and act without thinking.

I was gonna write a story where something like that happened ages ago - call it Area 51 if you will - and we shot the bugger down, chopped him up and looked at his insides with little comprehension - then fifty years later we develop interstellar travel. Only there are a few races which have the technology already and they don't know if they want us to join their number because - lets face it, most humans are assholes and the ones in charge -most of themn are like a pretty boys prison asshole. So these aliens take a few humans and dump them in front of an intergalactic council to defend earth - because the alternative to havign space travel is either destruction or the permanent genetic disabling of anyt mental functions which would allow interstellar travel in the future, along with destruction of the technology we have at the moment.

I got stuck at this point, because I was hoping to be able to allow the humans interstellar travel, but i couldn't think of anything which redeems us. I literally couldn't think of anything which might stir the heart or minds [or any other piece of alien biology] in our defence.

Don't say "Shakespeare" because it is only relevant to humans, or "love" or anything as cliched - they mean nothing in a parliament of this kind. How can humans defend their right to live - and their right to interact with other intelligent beings?

I would appreciate some ideas, not because I desperately want to try and write this story - although i might - but because I am pretty convinced right now that the human race has no redeeming features of this kind. The best I came up with was that we might be able to be slaves becuase we breed so fast...anyone for a life of slavery??

Sir Clive Woodward
I think the only phrase which can describe my disgust with Woodward is:

"Dear god what a fucking twat."

I really hope they take his knighthood away - sure he can get paid eight to ten times as much, and he is bound to be able to pull - if Sven can, there isn't anything with a pulse that couldn't, but for FUCKS SAKE MAN - WHERE'S YOUR DIGNITY?

Fool - sellout fool. I hope he catches syphilis.

bleeeeeurgh
stressed spasticated and lonely is how I am at the moment.

Too tired for anything - too much work - not enough money and no hugs...

I am going through one of those stages where I feel I should sack the lot in and start asking questions that might get me settled in a more stable career like -

"Would you like fries with that?"

least you don't got to stress
